Suzy and I met in 2007 while taping boxes for a women’s ministry event. We both laugh out loud when we talk about our first encounter with one another. We have been good friends ever since our box-taping days. Suzy has one of the biggest hearts I know for serving God and for helping others. She brightens everyone’s day with her contagious smile and her compassion to love everyone just as they are. Most of all, Suzy makes herself available to others and she is one of the best listeners I know.
Suzanne Craig is a non-profit leader in our community and she thrives on issues of the heart. I had no idea my good friend had been walking everyday since January. When she sent me a text message saying she was down 50 pounds, I was elated for her! Even though I am in the Wellness profession when it comes to family and friends, I do not give out advice unless asked. I learned it is best to let others come to me when they are ready.
Suzy totally bypassed me and made the decision to get active and to change the way she was eating. She has lost 84 pounds since January and is continuing to lose weight each week. Her Secret is really No Secret, She walks 7 days a week, early in the morning and is now walking 5 miles everyday! God placed a co-worker in her life to remind her of who she is, that word of encouragement sparked something deep inside of her. She took that word and did something, she began moving towards the words, ‘You are an Athlete!”
When I look at Suzy, I do not see what she may see. I see her beauty, her radiance as she smiles and her Love for God and for others. I do not see any extra weight. But, I am so Excited and Happy for Her weight loss! She is one of my Heroes and she inspires me to do greater things! I am thankful God has allowed Suzy and I to become really good friends, she has taught me how to sit and listen to others and hopefully I have taught her a few lessons on how to keep the box straight when taping it together:)
Since Suzy is walking 5 miles ~7 -days a week, I thought she should demonstrate a warm-up, dynamic stretch to do before walking. She also demonstrates a static calf stretch to do after her walking. Always remember to Warm-Up your body before you get Active!
