Shaped by Faith guest, Gwen Bennett, the founder of Shepherd’s Hand Ministry tells the story of how God woke her up at 3 AM every day for ten months with a burden for her to start a clothing ministry. Gwen started with a pile of dirty clothes left in a table closet at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. From that pile of clothes that she took home to wash, God expanded this Ministry to help clothe over 6000 families between 2016 – 2017.
Shepherd’s Hand Ministry’s primary focus is to share the love of Jesus with others and to distribute clean, unstained clothing along with other items to help people in need. This ministry has branched out and is helping the Boulware Missions, Hope House, and Dixon Teen Challenge through the work exchange program. These organizations provide Shepherd’s Hand with men and women to help with the lifting and sorting in exchange for clothing, shoes, and coats for themselves and their families. This ministry also teams with Helping Hands Community Dinner every Monday night to provide clothes and food to 100 plus seniors, children and the homeless.
