Rhonda McEnroe is a self taught Artist, she is also a Designer, an Instructor, the Owner of Enroe Studio and the 2019 Kentucky Derby Artist for the 145th Running for the Roses.
Rhonda talked about receiving the official phone call from Churchill Downs on her birthday confirming that she was chosen as the 2019 Kentucky Derby artist. It was exciting to hear her share what it was like being picked as the official Kentucky Derby artist and meeting so many people while she signed posters.
She talked about who inspired her to paint at a very young age and how her career as an artist was launched in 1979.
Rhonda’s professional career began in 1979 with a successful line of limited edition prints which established her as a skilled watercolorist. Through the appreciation of thousands of print collectors her talent expanded from the print market to fine art originals for private and corporate collectors such as Forbes
Magazine, New York, NY, Humana Hospital, Louisville, KY and Stryker Corporation, Kalamazoo, MI. Prolific is a word used to describe Rhonda’s paintings because
she refuses to be labeled with only one classification of techniques, or only one medium. Her techniques range from realistic watercolors, impressionistic pastels and acrylics, along with oils and mixed media for her abstract and large custom-designed canvases.
With each subject, she captures the heart and soul of her work, while “telling a story” on
the canvas. She has seen this artistic growth in her compositions as her faith has grown
and matured. Her work provides the viewer with light, color, life and healing. By using
her God-given talents, Rhonda loves sharing her optimism and spirituality with others. In fact, “love” is often the word that has been used by many to describe the feelings and
impressions they experience while viewing her work.
