Steve Winkler is the Executive Director of the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club, a positive safe place where kids can play and just be kids. The Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to providing a safe, positive environment for youth ages 6-18 in Owensboro/Daviess County. Steve shared why was there a need to open this club in our community back in 1967 and the history behind the Boys and Girls Club Today’s young people face life-threatening challenges on a daily basis, substance abuse, neglect, poverty, parental guidance; the list is far too long. If our youth are to grow up and become productive citizens of society, they need a positive place away from these threats. A place where they can just be kids and a place where caring adults can help them develop the skills and self-confidence to say “NO” to dangerous pastimes. Steve  also shared the many ways the Club is helping kids achieve academic success, healthy lifestyles and building their character and leadership abilities. Did you know there are three main locations and that they are planning on opening up two more locations soon! MIKE HORN UNIT~ 3415 Buckland Square, Owensboro, Kentucky 42301 C. MARTEL WIGHTMAN~

On this episode of Shaped By Faith Radio, my hubby and I are talking about blended families. We married 23 years ago and blended both of our families together! We share what it’s like to blend seven children, a few dogs and cats together and still maintain a wonderful relationship based on putting God first! We both wanted to give some insight into our marriage and how we blended our families together. Hopefully our story will encourage other blended families who may be struggling or wondering how to do this. We are not claiming to know or have all the answers about blended families, but we can certainly share our personal experiences and just maybe this will help other families in the same situation. Blending families together can get really messy as everything and everyone is stirred together in an industrial blender. And, at the same time, blending families together for God’s purposes is a beautiful transformation that is so unique and holy. Hope you enjoy our conversation as we get real on the radio.
