My last article spoke of my torn meniscus in my right knee and whether or not I would go through surgery. At that point, I was still unsure of what God had planned for my knee, so I sought out wise council in the medical profession and continued to pray. I realize God can and does use physicians to assist in healing the body, but I wasn’t quite sure if this was His plan this particular time. God certainly used physicians when it came to matters of my heart being healed, but for some reason, this time was different. When it first hit me that my knee had suffered a real injury, I went to the Lord in prayer first thing in the morning while sitting on the side of my bed. I placed both my hands on my injury and asked God to heal my knee as I spoke His words out loud, “by his wounds you have been healed.” I believe Gods’ words are true for all of us today and I trust in Him for everything, including healing.
I believe that we each have the power within us through His Holy Spirit to receive healing and to heal. After all, we are the hands, feet and mouth piece of Jesus Christ on earth. God uses us to lay hands on the sick and to heal. In Acts 2: 38-39, Peter talks about Jesus forgiving our sins but then he goes on to speak of the gift of the Holy Spirit. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
After praying, I slowly slid off the edge of the bed and painfully made my way to the kitchen for coffee, while continuing to speak Gods’ healing words over my knee. “By His wounds you have been healed.” Even though I was still in pain, I knew God would heal me soon and take away my pain. During that day the enemy (Satan) was hot on my trail. He was right there trying to convince me that I would have to go through another surgery and that I would be out of commission for over 6 weeks. He even used Christians to try and convince me that this was Gods’ way of slowing me down so that the Lord could speak to me. I quickly pushed those ridiculous thoughts out of my mind, refusing to believe them as I continued to walk in His Divine healing.1 Peter 2:24 says, ” He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” So you see I had no reason to doubt God would heal me since His word is the truth.
That weekend I attended a ladies day conference downtown at Promise Land Church. Originally, a friend was attending with me but at the last minute, she backed out. I almost canceled but my husband prompted me to attend, so I went alone. What a blessing the conference was to me; hearing Gods’ word spoken through each guest speaker. At the end of the conference I was asked to pray for women who wanted prayer. I looked up and saw a line form in front of me with ladies eager for prayer. As each lady asked for physical healing, I believed God was doing just that, healing each lady that asked. At the end of the conference I looked for the pastors’ wife to ask for prayer for my knee, but I could see that she was surrounded with her own share of ladies. I decided to leave and as I walked out of the door, my right knee felt different. The stiffness was gone and the funny feeling now felt normal. I shook my right leg just to make sure what I was feeling was real, and it was! I do believe with all my heart that God healed my knee as I prayed for the healing of others. I praised God and thanked Him as I walked down Second Street to get a cup of coffee at The Crème Coffee house and celebrate the healing. Funny how God works things out for His glory!
The following day I ran into a longtime acquaintance, a physical therapist, who laid her hands on my knee, as we talked about the healing power of Jesus Christ. We shared what Christ had been doing in our lives and she invited me to the Healing Room on Booth Avenue the next Wednesday. I had visited the Healing Room once before with a friend who was diagnosed with MS earlier in the year. While I was there with my friend, I knew without a doubt that I would return and eventually take part in the healing ministry. Wednesday by divine appointment I showed up at the Healing Room and four ladies, two of whom I knew, prayed for me. Funny how my knee was never mentioned in their prayers, they must have already known that God had healed my knee. I look forward to returning to the Healing Room and continuing to pray with like minded people who believe in Gods’ Healing power.
With my knee doing so well, I only missed a couple of days helping people work out in His Spirit! I look forward to the healings that will be taking place, and the testimonies that will be shared, for the glory of God!
