Back to School Prayer!

School back prayer teachersAll of us can do our part in helping this transition back into the classroom by PRAYING for our Teachers, Students, Staff and anyone working or volunteering within the Schools. Praying for God’s Love & Peace to saturate the atmosphere in every School in the name of Jesus!

The Greatest Master Teacher was, and is, Jesus. The Bible refers to Jesus as a teacher sixty times. His disciples referred to him as teacher. Jesus even identifies himself in John 13:13, “You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, because that’s what I am.” The Bible tells us in John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The Word in this verse is Jesus, and Jesus became flesh to “walk out His talk” as an example for us, and as a sacrifice for our sin. The best teachers, and coaches, get right in there with their students, and show them how it’s done, just like Jesus did for us.

Jesus taught with authority, but He did so out of love for the people. His method was powerful and effective, and His students were changed! His teachings are still changing lives all over the world! Even the name of Jesus Christ causes a stirring. People do not mind if you say, God, Moses, Mohammed, or even Buddha, but say Jesus Christ in public and watch the reaction. Some will be agitated, some will turn away, others will mock you, and some will smile and offer you a response. His name cuts right to the soul. You either believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the greatest teacher that ever lived, or you don’t.

While some may disagree, I believe His greatest example of teaching us how to live occurred as He was about to give up His life on the cross. He said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” His purpose here was to offer us an opportunity to receive forgiveness, and He spent His last breath placing an exclamation point on this teaching.

I hope the teachers reading this will understand this is a letter of encouragement, and not additional responsibility or added pressure. We want you to know we are praying for you and your class. We are asking God to grant you peace, wisdom and strength for the coming year. And students, you have a great responsibility to respect your teachers’ authority. You can help the teacher, and yourself, by being good listeners and praying for your teacher. Parents, lift up the teachers and students in prayer daily, as this is the best thing you can do.
Finally, keep in mind, teaching with Jesus helps smooth the rough edges in life’s difficult lessons.
